KK Mwenyewe: Comedian Thrilling Kenyans with Perfect Mimic of DP Rigathi Gachagua [Video]

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, commonly known as Riggy G, has been a prominent figure on social media since his and President William Ruto’s rise to power. His distinctive style, unapologetic stance on his beliefs, and his sartorial choices have all been subjects of discussion and intrigue.

One particular individual, Zachariah Kariuki, who goes by the moniker KK Mwenyewe, has garnered significant attention for his spot-on impersonations of Riggy G. But who exactly is KK Mwenyewe?

KK Mwenyewe is a comedian and content creator who has found his niche on TikTok, thanks to his side-splitting videos mimicking Riggy G. With over 98,000 followers and nearly a million likes on TikTok, he has swiftly become one of the platform’s rising stars.

Interestingly, KK Mwenyewe is not just a social media sensation; he’s also a third-year student at Kisii University, where he is pursuing a degree in Computer Science. During an interview with Dr. Ofweneke on TV 47, KK humorously revealed that he’s often underestimated because of his course of study, but he doesn’t mind being seen as a joker. He candidly admitted that his motivation to excel in his studies and attend university was partly driven by the belief that beautiful girls could be found there, a notion his schoolteachers had planted in his mind.

So, how did KK Mwenyewe embark on his journey of mimicking Riggy G?

In a recent interview with Citizen Digital, KK Mwenyewe revealed that it was the encouragement of his friends that pushed him to take on the challenge of mimicking DP Gachagua. Initially unsure if he could pull it off, he eventually succumbed to the peer pressure and participated in an online challenge. To his surprise, he quickly gained internet fame as his videos went viral.

To ensure an authentic portrayal of the Deputy President, KK Mwenyewe dons a fake belly and oversized clothing that mirror Riggy G’s unique fashion sense. He has painstakingly mastered Gachagua’s distinctive walking style, facial expressions, and the common words and phrases the Deputy President frequently uses, as well as the contexts in which they are employed.

Some of these recurring phrases in his skits include “State capture,” “conversation,” “liberation,” “freedom,” “Mwai Kibaki,” “David Murathe,” “Karanja Kibicho,” and “Hustlers,” among others.

KK Mwenyewe’s uncanny impersonation of the Deputy President has not gone unnoticed, and he has collaborated with prominent Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi on several viral political skits. Even Martha Karua, the running mate for Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya in the 2022 presidential race, shared one of his projects on Twitter, praising him and his team for their work.

Despite his rising popularity, KK Mwenyewe has yet to secure any major endorsement deals, but he remains optimistic that opportunities will come knocking on his door. He also expressed his desire to meet Deputy President Gachagua in person and engage in a one-on-one conversation, a dream he hopes to realize in the future.
