Kitengela Woman found hiding husband’s corpse at home hoping he’ll resurrect

In Kitengela, Kajiado County, law enforcement recently apprehended a woman who had kept her husband’s lifeless body in their residence for an extended period. The intervention came after neighbors alerted authorities due to a putrid odor emanating from the couple’s property.

Despite initial reluctance from the 58-year-old woman to grant access to law enforcement, officers eventually gained entry into their home situated in Sifa Farm, Kitengela. Inside, they made a grim discovery: the decomposing body of her husband lay beside her bed in the living room. Additionally, the woman appeared malnourished and unwell.

According to neighbors, the couple adhered to a religious doctrine that restricted their diet solely to bananas and watermelons, and prohibited them from having children. As a result, the couple remained childless throughout their marriage.

Subsequently, authorities transferred the deceased to City Mortuary for an autopsy, with plans for burial arrangements to be made in Nyeri County, the man’s hometown. Furthermore, the woman underwent a mental assessment at Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, accompanied by law enforcement officials.

Reportedly, the woman originally hailed from Tanzania, where she had worked as a lecturer. Her husband had previously been employed at Nairobi County’s City Hall before retiring several years prior.
