Residents of Ong’aroit village, Teso South, Busia County were left in shock after rescuing an infant who had been dumped in a toilet.
It is reported that the mother, a medical student together with her father conspired to dump the baby into a 20 feet Latrine.
Area police arrested the woman for trying to kill the 2.8kg infant by Dumping it into the pit Latrine.It is reported that neighbors heard cries from the toilet and later informed local authorities that they who later saved the child.
The woman’s father, a retired teacher, was also arrested and the two will be arraigned in court after investigations are complete.
Commenting on the matter, area chief, Willimina Inyaa said that the infant was rescued and miraculously found alive wrapped in banana leaves covered with maggots.
The baby was then taken to Lukolis Healthcare and later transferred to the Busia Referral Hospital for incubation.
