A church leaders’ meeting in Kisumu turned into a scandal after a young woman was allegedly raped by a visiting pastor.
The incident happened on August 21, 2025, at Dignitaries Guest House in Manyatta Estate, a facility owned by the bishop and his wife.
The gathering had been organised to promote unity among members of the clergy.
According to police, the victim, a 24-year-old woman who is partially paralysed, had been instructed by her supervisor to deliver hot water to the rooms where the guests were staying.
It is reported that when she entered one of the rooms at midday, the suspect attacked her.
The police report indicated that she was pouring water into a basin when the suspect grabbed her forcefully, threw her onto the bed, and raped her.
In her statement, the woman told police that the man overpowered her despite her attempts to resist.
Her colleague, identified as Charity, told investigators she rushed to the room after hearing screams and found the suspect on top of the girl.
Police have since taken up the matter, and investigations are underway.
The shocking incident has left the community in disbelief, as the conference was meant to uphold unity and faith within the church.
