A chilling incident unfolded in Chepsion, Kericho County, after a man who had allegedly killed his girlfriend surrendered himself to the police and confessed to the crime.
According to reports, the suspect walked into Litein Police Station and admitted that he fatally stabbed his girlfriend before fleeing the scene.
Police officers who visited the house confirmed the tragic killing, recovering the woman’s lifeless body alongside the knife believed to have been used in the attack. The body was later moved to the mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the actual cause of death.
The suspect, now in custody, allegedly told officers that he committed the act after finding his girlfriend with another man.
“This is a very unfortunate incident. We urge people to resolve disputes amicably rather than resort to violence,” said an officer familiar with the case.
The brutal killing has left residents of Chepsion in shock and mourning, with many expressing concern over the rising cases of intimate partner violence in the country.
Authorities have urged the public to embrace dialogue and seek peaceful conflict resolution, warning that anger and suspicion often end in irreversible tragedy.
As investigations continue, the family of the deceased is grappling with the painful loss of their loved one, even as Kenyans are called upon to stand in solidarity with them.
