Police in Nairobi are holding a 48-year-old woman, Lillian Moraa Mbeki, and a male suspect, Patrick Jagongo, in connection with the death of 25-year-old Festus Oromo, who died after falling from the 14th floor of an apartment building.
According to Lillian, a disagreement occurred between Oromo and Patrick earlier in the night. She told investigators that she had been drinking, became intoxicated and went to sleep, leaving the two men in the living room. She said she only became aware of the incident after hearing commotion moments later.
Residents who spoke to the media said Oromo’s body was discovered on top of a vehicle outside the building.
Detectives have opened an investigation into the events leading up to the fall. Police are examining reports that the three had been drinking together and that suspected drug substances were found in the house. The items have since been taken for forensic analysis.
Preliminary information shows that Oromo met Lillian on a dating app, and the two had met several times before the incident.
Police say the two suspects will remain in custody as investigations continue.
