In an interview with Afrimax English, an elderly man from Uganda, identified only as Mutiacya, shared the story of his life—a tale marked by prosperity, loss, and a transformative decision.
Once thriving in both his career and family life, Mutiacya’s world was upended when he lost his job, taking with it the financial stability that had supported his family. He and his three wives had enjoyed a peaceful life with their seven children, wanting for nothing. However, this abrupt change in circumstances began to unravel the fabric of their family dynamics.
Mutiacya reflected on how his once-respectful wives began to distance themselves, exhibiting disrespect and discontent. The financial struggles he faced caused him to feel emasculated and undermined, as his wives openly disregarded him.
In response to these challenges, Mutiacya made a bold and decisive move: he divorced all three of his wives on the same day, opting for a life of solitude. He expressed that his main desire was to spend time with his children, free from the tensions that had arisen.
“I divorced my 3 wives in one day to spend time with my kids!” he said, signaling his resolve to prioritize his relationship with his children.
With his wives gone, they took their seven children with them. Left alone, Mutiacya found comfort in interacting with other people’s children, taking joy in offering small financial gestures that could bring happiness to others. Despite his own modest financial means, he found fulfillment in brightening the lives of those around him.
As his children grew up, some moved abroad while others stayed in Uganda. Mutiacya shared that they still visit him from time to time, maintaining a connection despite their busy lives.
When asked if he would ever consider remarriage, Mutiacya firmly stated, “Never.” His experiences had led him to shy away from the challenges and complications of marriage, choosing instead to enjoy a peaceful life on his own terms.
