“I Caught My Maid Peeing in a Jug and Pouring It into Boiling Tea,” Eldoret Doctor Recounts

An Eldoret-based doctor is still reeling from a disturbing discovery that left her shaken to the core.

She claims she caught her newly hired nanny urinating in a jug and pouring the contents into a boiling pot of tea meant for her family.

Eunice Keino, a medic at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, had installed a nanny cam in her home to monitor her child’s care while she was away.

Just 12 hours after welcoming the new carer into her house, Eunice says she woke up and checked the live footage from her phone, only to witness a horrifying act in her kitchen.

The footage, she says, showed the woman relieving herself into a jug before adding the urine to the family’s tea.

“One morning, while I was about to wake up, I checked my phone only to see her peeing in a jug and adding the contents of the jug to the brewing tea.”

“I froze. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Had I not checked my phone that morning, we would’ve drunk it,” Eunice recalled.

Shocked and disgusted, Eunice acted swiftly, removing the nanny from her home.

This was not her first unsettling encounter with a carer.

She had previously dealt with one nanny breastfeeding her infant without consent and another suspected of drug use inside her house.

Despite the trauma, Eunice did not pursue legal action, instead choosing to focus on healing and caring for her child.

She credits her vigilance and the nanny cam for potentially saving her family from harm.

Her story has since sparked concern among parents about the hidden risks of domestic help and the need for stricter screening procedures and mental health evaluations during hiring.

Eunice now advocates for more awareness and urges fellow parents to prioritise both trust and caution when leaving their children under someone else’s care.
