The husband of Jane Wambui, the nurse from Naivasha whose body was discovered buried in a shallow grave within her home compound, has finally broken his silence, revealing chilling details surrounding her tragic death.
John Kimani, speaking from his Kitale residence, recounted the horror that unfolded after his wife vanished without a trace.
Wambui, a dedicated medic at Naivasha Sub County Hospital, had planned to host a women’s gathering at their home. When guests arrived to find the house locked, alarm bells rang.
Kimani, who initially believed she had simply stepped out briefly, tried contacting her repeatedly, but his calls went unanswered.
Days later, after growing increasingly anxious, he gave instructions for their house to be accessed.
To their shock, Wambui was not inside, and nothing appeared disturbed.
As the search intensified, suspicions turned to the family’s long-time househelp, Mary Chebet, who had been living within the compound.
Chebet, once treated like family, had been taken in by the couple during hard times. Unknown to them, she allegedly harbored a dark side.
In a dramatic turn of events, detectives revealed that Chebet led them to the shallow grave where Wambui’s body was buried, wrapped in cloth, hidden just steps from her doorstep.
Kimani described his wife as a cancer survivor and a fighter who deserved none of what befell her.
Now left to mourn not just a partner but also the betrayal of someone they had trusted, he says the pain is unbearable.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed Chebet’s arrest and ongoing investigations as Kenyans continue to express shock and outrage across social media.
