Willis Raburu is a household name in Kenya’s media and entertainment scene. Best known for his decade-long career at Citizen TV, Raburu has built a reputation as a dynamic journalist, presenter, and musician. Beyond the newsroom, he has also made significant strides as an entrepreneur, serving as the CEO of Bazutainment, a company dedicated to nurturing Kenya’s musical talent.
Raburu’s media journey began humbly as an intern at K24. Encouraged by his colleagues Steve Shitera and Mohamed Mahmud, he tried his hand at a piece to camera titled “Rite of Passage.” The feature was a success, setting him on a promising path in journalism. He later joined Royal Media Services before securing his place at Citizen TV, where his salary was estimated at around KSh 400,000, according to Who Owns Kenya.
Through Bazutainment, Raburu has sought to give back to the creative community. In 2021, he signed a KSh 5 million partnership with betting company 22Bet to empower upcoming artists. His passion for music is evident not only in his mentorship but also in his personal releases. His hit tracks, including “Bazuu” and “Kalale”—the latter boasting over eight million views on YouTube—cement his presence in the music industry.
Away from the spotlight, Raburu has shared glimpses of his personal milestones. In 2020, he showcased a bungalow he was constructing in his village during the COVID-19 pandemic, a project that resonated with many fans. He is also a family man, currently in a relationship with Ivy Namu, with whom he shares two children, including their youngest, a baby girl.
