Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has announced a bold stance regarding the upcoming protests against the Finance Bill. He stated that he intends to conduct DNA tests on any of his children who do not participate in these demonstrations.
Kaluma underscored the importance of opposing excessive taxation and governmental corruption. In a social media post, he urged Kenya’s youth to come together, striving to achieve what previous generations have not.
“My children who fail to join other Kenyan youth in street protests this Tuesday against excessive taxation and government corruption will undergo a DNA test! It’s imperative that Kenya’s children unite to accomplish what we couldn’t,” declared the MP.
Kaluma’s remarks precede scheduled nationwide youth protests set for Tuesday, with further actions planned throughout the week, culminating on Thursday.
Last week, Kenya’s Generation Z mobilized nationwide protests against the Finance Bill 2024, advocating for its rejection. The demonstrations commenced in Nairobi on Tuesday and extended to Mombasa by Wednesday.
Despite widespread protests, 204 MPs voted in favor of the bill, while 105 opposed it.
