Renowned for her commanding presence, Miss Morgan played the role of a no-nonsense deputy principal in the Citizen TV school drama. Her stern demeanor, rarely cracking a smile, struck fear into the hearts of students on screen — and earned her a loyal fan base across the country.
Although Tahidi High ceased production in 2016, the show left a lasting impact and remains a cultural touchstone for many Kenyans who grew up watching it. Interestingly, Waruinge revealed that she left the show twice during its run, despite its massive popularity.
In a recent interview with media personality Massawe Japanni on Radio Jambo, Waruinge opened up about the challenges some of the show’s cast members faced off-screen — particularly issues related to addiction. She explained that during the peak of the show, many cast members had both time and money, which sometimes led them into lifestyles centered around alcohol and leisure.
However, she urged the public not to single out Tahidi High actors, emphasizing that addiction is a widespread issue affecting many, including individuals who haven’t spoken out publicly.
