General Muhoozi tells Bobi Wine-“Bobi Wine, you should be happy we allowed you vie in the first place. What amazes me is you thinking you stood a chance against General Museveni”

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has launched a scathing attack on opposition leader Bobi Wine, dismissing his presidential ambitions and asserting that President Yoweri Museveni remains overwhelmingly popular among Ugandans.

In blunt remarks, Muhoozi claimed that Bobi Wine should be grateful he was even allowed to contest. “Bobi Wine, you should be happy we allowed you to vie in the first place,” he said, questioning why the opposition leader believed he could defeat Museveni at the ballot.

Muhoozi went further to argue that Museveni’s grip on the country remains firm. “The people of Uganda love Museveni to death. You have been beaten hands down,” he stated, advising Bobi Wine to retreat and prepare for future elections—only to face defeat again.

In an even more provocative tone, the general suggested that once Museveni is done politically confronting Bobi Wine, he himself would take over the task. “When Museveni is done with you, it will be my turn to defeat you shamelessly,” Muhoozi declared, remarks that have already stirred debate about military involvement in partisan politics.

The comments have sparked mixed reactions across Uganda and beyond. Supporters of the ruling establishment have praised Muhoozi’s confidence and loyalty to Museveni, while critics argue that such statements undermine democratic competition and blur the line between the military and politics.

As Uganda’s political temperature continues to rise, Muhoozi’s remarks add to growing concerns about intolerance toward opposition voices and the future of democratic space in the country.
