After years of mixed results with its foldable lineup, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is proving to be a runaway success. A new report reveals that the tech giant is already ramping up production to keep up with unexpectedly strong demand.
Before launch, the outlook for the Fold 7 seemed uncertain, with Samsung even cutting back its production plans compared to previous years. But once the device hit the market, it quickly became clear that sales were far exceeding expectations.
According to industry reports, Samsung is now planning to produce an additional 60,000 units of the Fold 7 this month, bringing September’s total to around 260,000 devices. This comes after August production already surged far beyond projections—Samsung initially planned to build 170,000 units but ended up manufacturing a massive 430,000. July was even bigger, with production reaching 1.3 million units.
In contrast, production of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE is being scaled back. Still, Samsung now expects Fold 7 output to surpass the original 2.4 million-unit target, which was already higher than the total shipments of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company has also confirmed that sales in the U.S. are up 50% compared to last year’s model.
With the Fold 7 shaping up to be Samsung’s most successful foldable yet, the only question is: Did you get yours—or are you still planning to?
