COTU boss Francis Atwoli has sparked fresh debate after boldly dismissing the idea that Kenya needs young leaders to take over the country’s future.
Speaking in a recent address, Atwoli questioned why people keep insisting on youthful leadership, pointing to global examples of elderly leaders who still command respect and power.
“Let no one tell you that this country needs young leaders. Nowhere in the world is that happening. How old is Donald Trump? Even the Italian president is 93—he has to be assisted to the podium,” Atwoli remarked.
The outspoken trade unionist further defended his long tenure at the helm of workers’ leadership in Kenya, saying workers themselves have kept him in office because they do not want him to leave.
His remarks have since stirred mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that experience is key, while others accused him of clinging to power.TO READ MORE,TAP HERE
