Dick Njoroge alias Wamunyonyi has become an overnight sensation,gaining explosive fame,after his single song dubbed “Firirida (Free dance)” became a household song,taking Mt.kenya by storm.

Dick Njoroge alias Wamunyonyi has become an overnight sensation,gaining explosive fame,after his single song dubbed “Firirida (Free dance)” became a household song,taking Mt.kenya by storm.Not only has it filled ears of everyone and sings along,the song has become viral making ripples both online and on the mainstream media.
Speaking on Inooro TV, Dick Njoroge revealed that the song was not a new record as many had thought,but was dusted from the archives.
Though it has gained recognition and celebration most recently,the “Firirida” song was released in 1985.
Unable to make a breakthrough for years ,he later premiered the song on his youtube channel seven years ago but only attracted just a handful of views.
However,after realising the song,everything changed when his voice disappeared leaving Dickson feeling dejected as it shuttered his music career.
The ‘voice strain’ he endured costed him his singing voice and he lost his vocal strength.
The incident,he said,made him experience unsettling questions from many people who knew him asking what actually happened to his voice.
“After i released the song,that is in 1985, my voice disappeared and i was unable to sing again,” he said.
In the interview,the singer,born and bred in Gatundu South, revealed that back then he was a household name and even received and invitation to perform at President Uhuru’s wedding to First lady Magaret Kenyatta.
“Actually i am the one who performed at Uhuru’s wedding at Mutomo,Gatundu,” he revealed beamly.
While his voice isn’t quite what it was,he has never recovered and still has that ‘voice strain’,the ‘Firirida’ singer has requested his fans to pray for him to recover and gain his memeorable vocals back.
“I request out viewers and my fans to pray for me to regain my incredible singing voice,i can talk but singing is still a straining task,” he said.
