President William Ruto’s close ally, Farouk Kibet, has urged the Luhya community to rally behind the President’s leadership if they hope to produce a head of state in 2032.
Speaking during a political gathering, Farouk emphasized that the only way leaders like Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi or National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula could have a realistic shot at the presidency is by standing firmly with President Ruto as he completes his second term.
“Nyinyi Waluhya, kama mnataka kuwa na Rais Wetang’ula ama Rais Mudavadi mwaka 2032, lazima msikilize na muunge mkono Rais Ruto amalize kipindi chake cha pili,” Farouk said.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about succession politics within the Kenya Kwanza coalition. Farouk, a longtime political mobilizer and strategist, stressed the importance of loyalty and unity within the alliance, warning that early political rebellion could cost the community future opportunities.
Political analysts interpret Farouk’s comments as part of a broader effort to consolidate support for President Ruto, particularly in Western Kenya, where both Mudavadi and Wetang’ula command significant influence.
The statement has sparked debate online, with some agreeing that political patience could benefit the Luhya community, while others criticized the idea of linking future leadership to unconditional support for the current administration.
