Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called on controversial preacher Pastor James Ng’ang’a to present himself to authorities following the circulation of a disturbing video online.
Speaking on October 7, 2025, Passaris urged the pastor to cooperate fully with law enforcement and reveal the identities of all those mentioned in the alleged confession.
“If the video is real, he should go to the police and help ensure justice for the survivor,” she said.
The video’s authenticity has not yet been verified, but it has sparked national debate and public anger, with many Kenyans demanding accountability and a thorough investigation.
Passaris emphasized that no one—religious or political—should be above the law, especially when serious allegations such as sexual violence are involved. Her bold statement has drawn praise from human rights advocates, who commended her for taking a stand on an issue many find sensitive to address.
However, others have urged caution and due process, warning against public judgment before the facts are confirmed.
The viral clip has reignited discussions about gender-based violence and impunity in Kenya, with civil society organizations calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch a comprehensive probe into the matter.
As investigations continue, the case has become a litmus test for Kenya’s commitment to justice and protection of survivors. Regardless of the video’s authenticity, public reaction shows growing intolerance for abuse of power and sexual violence, especially among influential public figures.
