Dr. Kingori – I wore my mother’s high heel boots to school due to poverty

Dr. Kingori, the renowned media personality and host of the immensely popular show “The Wicked Edition” on NTV, has undeniably become a prominent figure in Kenya.

Through his sharp wit and insightful commentary, he has captured the hearts of viewers and solidified his position as one of the nation’s most beloved media personalities.

However, beneath his remarkable success lies a story of resilience, triumphing over poverty, and defying all odds.

In a recent Engage series talk, Dr. Kingori candidly shared his extraordinary journey, tracing his humble beginnings to his current role as the host of Kenya’s longest-running television program.

During the discussion, he disclosed his mother’s aspirations for him to pursue a medical career, recounting the difficulties they faced as a family.

“My mother’s dream was for me to become a doctor,” Dr. Kingori revealed. “She viewed it as an opportunity for us to escape the confines of poverty. As a casual worker in two hospitals, she understood that additional qualifications were essential to surpass the limitations she encountered.”

Growing up in poverty, Dr. Kingori encountered numerous obstacles but triumphed over them through resourcefulness and determination.

He vividly recalled a time during primary school when he couldn’t afford new shoes, resorting to wearing his mother’s high-heeled boots instead.

“I remember a moment in seventh grade when I almost attended school barefoot because my shoes were tattered. However, creativity came into play. I wore my mother’s shoes to school, and I remember that pair quite well—it was a pair of high-heeled boots,” Dr. Kingori shared.

He humorously added, “You know
