Congratulations- Ferdinand Omanyala sets new record in France

Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man and the 100-meter champion at the Commonwealth Games, recently achieved a new national 60-meter dash record with a remarkable time of 6.54 seconds. The Italian athlete, Jacobs Lamont Marcel, who took second place, lagged behind with a time of 6.57 seconds, whereas the 27-year-old Kenyan athlete sprinted his way to victory. Cisse Arthur of Ivory Coast and Volko Jan of Slovakia were among the top three finishers.

Omanyala considers this new record to be a personal best and a present for his father. The competition took place in Lievin, France. On February 7, the Kenyan sprinter pledged to set a new standard this season when he makes his debut in the Diamond League. The first Diamond League event of the season is scheduled for May 5 in Doha, Qatar, and is one of the 14 most prestigious invitation-only meets in the annual track and field athletics series.

Omanyala is anticipating invitations to show off a streak of masterful performances. He chose to compete in the 60-meter sprint to sharpen his starting strategy and increase his speed. Omanyala’s strength is in the final 50 meters, so he is using the indoor meets to work on the first half of the stretch.

The Kenyan public has also congratulated Omanyala on his impressive performance.
