It’s interesting to see how CITAM, a Christian church in Kenya, has diversified its investments beyond the traditional church activities. The church’s portfolio of businesses and properties includes schools, media, university, rentals, and hotels and resorts.
CITAM Schools, with at least ten primary schools across Kenya, made a significant increase in revenue of 171% from 2020 to 2021, with higher student enrollment and implementation of the revised school calendar.
Hope Media, the parent firm for Hope FM and Hope TV, is another significant investment for the church, providing Christian-themed content, talk shows, news, and current affairs tailored for different age groups. The church also operates a recording studio called Hope Studios, which provides top-notch music, audio, and video recording services.
Pan Africa Christian University is a private university owned by CITAM, with an enrollment of over 3000 students from over 25 different nationalities and offering 38 academic programs.
CITAM is also a landlord in Kenya, owning several rental properties, and has diversified its investments into the hospitality industry, specifically hotels and resorts, with Citam Kadolta resort located in Kitengela offering accommodation, conference rooms, restaurants, a swimming pool, camping grounds and team-building amenities.
It’s impressive to see how the church’s business acumen has translated into significant revenues, with 62.1% of the overall total income being received from tithe offerings. It will be interesting to see how CITAM continues to grow its investments and maintain its position as a significant player in the Kenyan economy.
