Meet the billionaire spending Sh630Billion to mark 60th birthday

Femi Otedola, a prominent Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, is celebrating his 60th birthday in style. He is the founder of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd and owns several other businesses across shipping, real estate, and finance.

Leading up to his birthday on November 4th, Otedola has been enjoying pre-birthday festivities, and according to estimates, has spent close to Sh638billion on the celebrations so far. He has been on a luxury yacht for three weeks, living the high life and treating friends to a lavish lifestyle.

Otedola refers to himself as the “man of leisure” and regularly shares pictures of his adventures. His yacht, the CHRISTINA O, is one of the largest in the world and is owned by billionaire Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. Otedola reportedly rented the yacht for three weeks to sail on the Mediterranean Sea with family and friends, along with crew members on board.

The weekly rental cost of the yacht, according to Charter World, is €620,000. Otedola has been counting down to his big day, sharing pictures of himself, his family, and the yacht’s interior.

Otedola’s daughter, popular Nigerian DJ Cuppy, shared with fans how her father had always dreamed of visiting the CHRISTINA O owned by his role model, Onassis. Now, at 60, he has chartered it for three weeks to share with loved ones.

Despite her father’s wealth, Cuppy has lamented that the men she hooks up with are often more interested in her billionaire dad than her. She has had difficulties finding a man who will love her for herself and not just her father’s wealth. She even disclosed how one of her former boyfriends was always questioning her about meeting her father.
