In a candid interview with Oga Obinna on the Obinna show, renowned TikToker Brian Chira shed light on the circumstances surrounding his contraction of the HIV virus. While Chira has been forthright about his HIV status, he had previously chosen not to disclose the specifics of how he acquired the disease.
The chain of events began when Brian Chira received an invitation to an upscale party in Mombasa. Boarding a bus, he arrived in Mombasa at approximately 7 p.m.
As the party was scheduled to commence later that night, Chira reached out to his friend, who happened to be studying at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM). Upon connecting, his friend extended the invitation to two additional acquaintances, who arrived accompanied by their girlfriends.
The group of six individuals proceeded to indulge in alcoholic beverages, becoming increasingly inebriated. Unfortunately, during this time, one of the attendees subjected Brian Chira to unwanted advances, resulting in his contraction of HIV.
Realizing that he had fallen victim to sexual assault, Chira promptly left the premises, boarded a bus back to Nairobi, and promptly reported the distressing incident to the appropriate authorities.
Although Chira was provided with Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) medication, he did not receive proper guidance on its administration. Several months later, his friend, who worked for a non-governmental organization, accompanied him to a Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) center, where Chira discovered that he had tested positive for HIV.
