Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to police officers over making derogatory remarks about President William Ruto.
Speaking during a public event, Murkomen stated that any officer found referring to the Head of State as “Kasongo” or chanting slogans such as “one-term” will face immediate dismissal from the service.
“Any police officer who calls the President ‘Kasongo’ or shouts ‘one-term’ will be fired on the spot,” he warned, emphasizing that discipline and respect for the office of the President must be upheld at all times.
Murkomen further reminded security personnel of their duty to remain neutral and professional in the execution of their work, cautioning them against engaging in political banter or undermining national leadership.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans supporting the call for respect, while others criticized it as a curb on freedom of expression.
