Tanzanian boxer Karim Mandonga, known as Mandonga Mtu Kazi, faced another setback in his boxing career when he clashed with veteran Ugandan boxer Moses Golola on July 29 in Mwanza, Tanzania. The much-anticipated match resulted in a crushing defeat for Mandonga, who was knocked out by Technical Knockout in the third round. This marked his second consecutive defeat, following his loss to Daniel Wanyonyi from Kenya in a previous non-title fight.
During the match against Golola, it became evident that the Ugandan fighter was superior in the ring, outclassing Mandonga and securing victory through Technical Knockout. However, Mandonga attributed his defeat to a peculiar explanation, suggesting that he believed he was up against supernatural forces due to witchcraft. He claimed to have closely observed Golola since the weigh-in, but was unable to understand him and felt he was fighting against dark forces. Mandonga even mentioned finding objects during the bout that resembled items used in witchcraft.
Despite the unconventional explanation for his loss, Mandonga remained dedicated to his fans and assured them of his resilience. He expressed his determination to bounce back in future encounters, even if he has to face supernatural creatures in the ring. Mandonga’s professional record, which currently stands at six wins, four losses, and three draws, is now at a critical juncture.
His previous defeat against Daniel Wanyonyi had also dealt a blow to his prospects, with the Kenyan fighter knocking him out in the fifth round of their non-title fight. Nevertheless, Mandonga remains steadfast in his commitment to persevere and come out victorious in upcoming battles.
