Inooro TV recently featured the story of a Kenyan man serving a lengthy prison sentence for murder, highlighting the dangers of criminal activity and poor choices.
The man, born John Opana, reportedly had his name changed to Boniface Odhiambo after his arrest. Authorities said the alteration occurred because police were searching for someone with that name, creating confusion in official records.
During the interview, John recounted how he became involved in crime. He explained that most murders involve people known to the victim, often triggered by disputes or personal grievances. His own descent into serious crime began when he accepted a contract killing for financial gain.
He revealed that he was hired to kill a man’s wife after she allegedly transferred all property documents into her name. John was promised Ksh 70,000 but received only Ksh 20,000 after carrying out the act. Compounding his problems, he took possession of the victim’s phone and identification, which eventually led police to track him down. After thorough investigations, John was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to 40 years in prison.
John now shares his experience as a cautionary tale for young people, urging them to avoid crime. He emphasises that those planning murders are often the closest to the intended victim, warning about the dangers of misplaced trust. His message is clear: crime leads to destruction, imprisonment, and irreversible consequences.
