Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, youngest son of former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, charged with attempted murder After shooting at his Hyde Park home in Johannesburg.

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, 28, the youngest son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting at his Hyde Park residence in Johannesburg.

Police report that the incident occurred during an alleged altercation, during which a 23-year-old man was shot in the back while reportedly attempting to flee the scene. Bullet cartridges were recovered, but the firearm used in the shooting remains missing.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Mugabe and his bodyguard, Tobias Tamirepi Matonhodze, face charges of defeating the ends of justice. The victim remains in hospital in critical condition.

Mugabe was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court on March 3 for a bail hearing. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The case has drawn significant attention due to Mugabe’s high-profile family background and the violent nature of the incident, raising concerns about security and accountability in Johannesburg’s affluent neighborhoods.
