Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has opened up about what he described as difficult moments during his time serving under President William Ruto.
Speaking candidly, Gachagua claimed that his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, was at times caught up in tensions that arose whenever President Ruto had disagreements with First Lady Rachel Ruto.
“Nikiwa Deputy wa Ruto niliteswa sana na mke wangu. Ruto akikosana na bibi yake, hakuwa anataka nionekane na bibi yangu kwa event kama Rachael hayuko,” Gachagua alleged.
He went on to narrate an incident during a function attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga, claiming that when President Ruto reportedly declined to attend due to a disagreement with his wife, protocol officers allegedly asked his own wife to leave the event.
“Kuna siku ilikuwa function ya Raila, Ruto amekosana na bibi yake akagoma kukuja mkutano, watu wa protocol wakaambia ati bibi yangu aondoke, na mimi niliamua enough is enough, nikamwambia kama Mama Dorcas anatoka pia mimi natoka!” he said.
The explosive claims have sparked widespread debate, with supporters sympathizing with his account while critics question the timing and motive behind the revelations.
As political tensions continue to rise ahead of the 2027 elections, Gachagua’s remarks add a new layer to the evolving relationship between him and President Ruto, signaling deeper cracks within former allies.
