Aaron Cheruiyot launches scatthing attack on Matiang’i-Niliona huyu Matiang’i wa tumbo kubwa kazi yake ni kukula kwa mikutano na kung’orota.

Nandi Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has launched a scathing attack on former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, accusing him of hypocrisy and poor leadership during his tenure in government. Speaking sharply, Cheruiyot dismissed Matiang’i as an ineffective leader who, in his view, enjoyed privileges while ordinary citizens suffered.

The senator faulted Matiang’i’s record as the former security minister, alleging that the period was marked by heavy‑handed tactics and abuse of power. Cheruiyot claimed that despite now presenting himself as a reformist capable of transforming the country, Matiang’i’s past actions contradict the image he is trying to project. He argued that leadership should be judged by conduct in office rather than eloquent speeches or polished language.

Cheruiyot also mocked Matiang’i’s public appearances and rhetoric, suggesting that grand speeches cannot erase what he described as failures and excesses during his time in charge of national security. According to the senator, Kenyans should be wary of leaders who seek reinvention without accountability for their past decisions.

The remarks add to the growing political tension as various figures position themselves for future national contests. Cheruiyot’s attack reflects a broader debate about leadership credibility, legacy, and accountability, as politicians increasingly revisit each other’s records in an effort to shape public opinion ahead of upcoming elections.
