Shock hit Sotik town after a popular mutura vendor was caught with 15 kilograms of suspected dog meat. The 38-year-old man, identified as Richard Kigen, was arrested during a routine inspection by authorities following complaints from concerned residents.
According to sources, Kigen had been running his roadside meat business for years without raising suspicion. However, some locals recently noticed a strange smell and unusual texture in the meat, prompting them to alert officials.
The suspect was found with a suspicious sack believed to contain dog meat, which he allegedly intended to sell to unsuspecting customers as regular mutura. Health officers and police immediately launched an investigation to determine the actual source of the meat.
Samples were taken for lab tests to confirm whether it was indeed dog meat. Meanwhile, Kigen remains in custody as authorities continue with their probe.
Residents have urged the county government to tighten food safety checks and ensure all meat vendors are operating legally and hygienically.
This incident has left many questioning the safety of street food in the area.
