Bobi Wine’s wife, Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi, has sharply criticised Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, following controversial remarks he made about her husband.
Reacting to Muhoozi’s statements, Barbie questioned what she described as an unhealthy fixation on Bobi Wine, saying the comments went beyond politics and into personal attacks.
“Muhoozi claims he has my husband’s manhood. Why does he need it? Why is he so obsessed with my husband?” she asked.
Her remarks come amid rising political tension in Uganda, where Muhoozi—son of President Yoweri Museveni—has repeatedly made provocative statements targeting opposition figures, particularly Bobi Wine.
Supporters of the opposition leader have condemned the remarks as degrading, intimidating, and meant to silence dissent, while human rights activists say such language reflects the shrinking democratic space in the country.
The comments have also sparked widespread debate online, with many Ugandans calling on state officials to maintain decorum and focus on issues affecting citizens rather than personal attacks.
