Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has made explosive claims against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alleging that secret negotiations took place over his possible resignation from office.
Speaking during a political discussion, Wamuchomba claimed that Gachagua was allegedly promised Ksh 1.8 billion by President William Ruto to step down from the position of Deputy President.
According to Wamuchomba, the deal allegedly stalled after Gachagua’s wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, reportedly insisted that her husband should not accept anything less than Ksh 5 billion.
She further made a startling allegation regarding a past incident at Parliament, where Gachagua appeared unwell and was rushed for medical attention.
Wamuchomba claimed that Gachagua was not sick at the time, but had instead gone to a hospital to meet government officials over what she described as an outstanding balance of the alleged Ksh 1.8 billion deal.
The claims have sparked intense debate online, with supporters and critics sharply divided. However, no official evidence has been presented to substantiate the allegations, and neither Gachagua nor the Presidency has publicly responded to the claims.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions and power struggles within Kenya’s ruling coalition, as leaders continue to trade accusations in the public arena.
