Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has strongly defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta while criticizing leaders allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over what he termed as persistent attacks against the retired head of state.
Speaking during a public address, Salasya questioned why Uhuru Kenyatta continues to be blamed for various political and governance challenges. He argued that Kenyatta is no longer in office and should be allowed to live his private life without constant political pressure or accusations.
The outspoken legislator challenged ODM leaders to focus on their current responsibilities in government instead of repeatedly invoking Uhuru’s name. According to Salasya, leaders who hold positions in the current administration should concentrate on delivering services and fulfilling their mandates rather than engaging in blame games.
Salasya’s remarks have fueled debate online, with supporters praising his candid defense of the former president, while critics accused him of oversimplifying complex political issues. The exchange reflects ongoing tensions within Kenya’s political landscape as alliances continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general election.
As political discourse intensifies, the remarks have once again highlighted the growing calls for leaders to prioritize governance, accountability, and national unity over prolonged political rivalries.
