A quiet Langata neighbourhood was thrown into shock after a man at the centre of an M-Pesa dispute was later found dead inside his residence, in a case that has left many Kenyans asking hard questions about trust, money, and responsibility.
According to police reports, the man had earlier received Ksh 24,000 through M-Pesa, allegedly sent to him by mistake. The sender is said to have reached out immediately, politely requesting a reversal of the funds. However, the man reportedly declined to return the money, insisting it was not his problem once the transaction had gone through.
Frustrated by the refusal, the sender reported the matter to the authorities. Police officers are said to have summoned the man to record a statement, reminding him that knowingly keeping money sent in error is against the law. Days later, concern grew after neighbours noticed unusual silence from his Langata home. Upon gaining entry, officers discovered his lifeless body inside the house.
