NARC–Kenya leader Martha Karua has issued a strong warning to Kenyans ahead of the upcoming political season, urging citizens not to be deceived by small gifts and handouts offered by politicians during campaigns. Speaking at a public engagement, Karua emphasized that the future of the country cannot be traded for minor material items.
Karua criticized leaders who attempt to win votes by distributing items such as mattresses, food packs, and other short-lived incentives, arguing that such tactics undermine democracy and distract voters from evaluating real issues. “Wakenya msiwe watu wa kudanganywa na vitu vidogo vidogo kama mattress. Msipende usingizi sana kuliko haki,” she said, urging Kenyans to focus on leadership, integrity, economic policies, and long-term solutions.
According to Karua, accepting handouts may provide temporary comfort, but it often leads to long-term suffering when incompetent or corrupt leaders take office. She urged voters to prioritize accountability, service delivery, and constitutional rights over short-term inducements.
