President William Ruto has defended the accuracy of his recent State of the Nation Address, saying media fact-checkers confirmed that nearly all his statements were truthful.
Speaking during a public event, Ruto revealed that several media outlets rushed to verify the claims he made in his address — only to find that almost everything he said was accurate.
“Juzi nilipotoa State of the Nation Address, vyombo vya habari vilikimbilia kufanya fact-checking ili kuthibitisha kama nilikuwa nasema ukweli. Matokeo yakawa wazi kabisa: hotuba yangu ilikuwa 98% true,” Ruto said.
He insisted that his critics would continue searching for lies in his speeches but would never find any, because he has always been consistent and truthful.
“Mtaendelea kunitafutia uongo, lakini hamtapata — kwa sababu sijawahi kudanganya, wala kusema jambo ambalo sitatenda,” the President added.
Ruto’s remarks have sparked debate, with his supporters praising his confidence while critics question the basis of the 98% accuracy claim.
