Political analyst Herman Manyora has dismissed Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s statement that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should not visit Bondo, saying she has no authority to dictate who enters any part of the country.
Speaking during a televised discussion, Manyora argued that Kenya’s constitution grants every citizen the right to travel freely within the country. He said Wanga can only stop Gachagua from visiting her private home, not an entire region like Bondo.
“Who is Gladys Wanga to stop Gachagua from going to Bondo? Maybe to her house only,” Manyora said. “Every Kenyan, including the Deputy President, has the right to visit any place they wish.”
Manyora further criticized Wanga and her allies for what he called divisive politics, warning that such remarks only deepen regional and political tensions. He said leaders should promote unity and tolerance, especially following the death of ODM leader Raila Odinga, who always preached national cohesion.
“Raila used to welcome leaders from all walks of life. He stood for dialogue and peace. Those claiming to protect his legacy should emulate his example, not sow division,” he added.
Manyora urged politicians to avoid turning Raila’s home region into a political battlefield, insisting that Kenya needs reconciliation, not rivalry.
