What began as a routine ride turned into a nightmare for Nairobi taxi driver Peter Mwangi, who unknowingly transported a woman’s lifeless body disguised as a parcel. The incident unfolded on Wednesday evening when Mwangi was hired via a ride-hailing app to deliver what he was told was a “sensitive package” to an address in Eastlands.
Wrapped tightly in layers of cloth and plastic, the parcel emitted a faint odour, which Mwangi initially attributed to poor packaging. “I thought it was maybe meat or something perishable,” he said, visibly shaken. But upon arrival, the recipient refused to accept the delivery, prompting Mwangi to alert authorities.
Police later confirmed the parcel contained the body of a young woman, estimated to be in her twenties. Her identity remains unknown, and investigations are underway to trace the sender and determine the cause of death.
Mwangi, a father of three, says he’s haunted by the experience. “I’ve carried all kinds of things in my car, but never imagined something like this,” he said.
The case has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for stricter regulations on parcel screening and ride-hailing services. For Mwangi, it’s a chilling reminder that not every trip ends where you expect.
