‎Mike Sonko reveals Amount of Money Nairobi MCAs Are Demanding from Sakaja to Stop His Impeachment

‎Former Nairobi senator and later governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has alleged the amount of money Members of the Nairobi City County Assembly (MCAs) demanded from Governor Johnson Sakaja to stop his impeachment.

‎Taking to his verified X account on Monday, September 1, Sonko claimed that Nairobi MCAs demanded a Ksh5 million bribe each from Sakaja in exchange for halting the planned motion.

‎Sonko, who himself was impeached during his tenure as governor, further alleged that the MCAs met at an undisclosed location in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area, where they were negotiating with an unnamed political figure.

‎“Hakuna mahali anaenda. Majamaa had asked for 5M per person. As we are speaking wako somewhere within Upper Hill na mdosi flani negotiating,” Sonko wrote.

‎Sonko’s allegations come as a section of Nairobi MCAs push to impeach Sakaja on ten grounds. The Star earlier reported that ODM leader Raila Odinga had met the top leadership of the Nairobi County Assembly at his Karen home on Friday in an effort to save Sakaja.

‎On Monday, Raila reportedly held another meeting with Speaker Kennedy Ng’ondi, Majority Leader Peter Imwatok, Majority Chief Whip Moses Ogeto, and Governor Sakaja at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation in Upper Hill.
