Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has spoken out firmly in support of the Blood Parliament documentary by BBC Africa Eye, emphasizing that the events it portrays are not fictional.
“The incidents shown in the documentary are real,” Sifuna stated. “They happened. We all witnessed them live, both in person and on our screens.”
He went on to address critics who have questioned the documentary’s accuracy, suggesting that their discomfort stems from internal conflict rather than any falsehood in the reporting. “Those who are uneasy with the truth are grappling with their own consciences—and that is something we cannot resolve for them,” he said.
Referring to the tragic events of June 25th, 2024, Sifuna stressed the importance of preserving historical truth. “The story of that day is already written, and as the saying goes, the ink is dry. Anyone attempting to rewrite it will face a difficult task, because this chapter of history is written in blood.”
Sifuna concluded by calling for open dialogue and comprehensive storytelling: “We must allow these narratives to be shared from every angle—for the sake of truth, accountability, and justice.”
