A young woman in Nairobi has died following a brutal assault allegedly carried out by her 27-year-old husband at their home in Embakasi.
Teresa Kemunto Wambui, 26, succumbed to her injuries several days after the violent incident, which reportedly stemmed from a heated confrontation with her partner, Oscar Oundo. According to sources close to the investigation, the dispute began after Oundo accused Kemunto of infidelity upon reading messages on her WhatsApp.
In a reported outburst of rage, Oundo is said to have attacked Kemunto with a blunt object, leaving her with critical injuries. Despite her deteriorating condition, Kemunto managed to file a report at Soweto Police Station.
Hours later, as her health worsened, she reached out to her brother for help. He rushed to their home, confronted Oundo, and demanded that she be taken to the hospital. Kemunto was eventually admitted to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where she tragically died two days later.
Oundo has since been arrested and remains in custody at Soweto Police Station as investigations continue. The grieving family is now calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), human rights organizations, and the government to ensure justice is delivered for their daughter.
