A tragic accident claimed the lives of five passengers riding on a boda boda, while one person survived with injuries, in an incident that occurred in the Denyenye area along the Likoni-Kombani road.
The accident took place early Sunday morning, on September 15, 2024, at around 1:00 a.m. in Kwale County.
According to police reports, all of the deceased were passengers on the motorcycle at the time of the collision.
Details of the Accident:
Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle, carrying five passengers, collided with a stationary lorry after the rider failed to notice it in time. The motorcyclist was traveling from Kombani toward Likoni when the crash happened.
Coast Regional Police Commander George Sedah reported that the bodies of the victims were transported to the Kwale Hospital mortuary for identification and postmortem procedures.
The Survivor:
“There were six people on the motorcycle, and one survived the crash,” Sedah confirmed. The injured survivor was rushed to Diani Beach Hospital for treatment.
Sedah also urged all road users, including pedestrians, to exercise caution at all times to ensure their safety.
