Revealed: Details of woman killed alongside two 3.9Million Eastleigh robbers

The recent Eastleigh robbery has brought to light the identity of one of the alleged culprits, a woman known as ‘Esther’ or ‘Bobo Shanty’. Surveillance footage released by the Eastleigh Voice captured the suspects in action, shooting and fleeing with a sum of Sh3.9 million belonging to 26-year-old Adan Ali Mohamed.

The intrigue surrounding the robbery deepened with the discovery of Esther’s body at the City Mortuary. Joining her in this grim revelation were the remains of other suspects, Fredrick Kopo, also known as ‘Frik’, and Jaylan Kibe, whose bodies were also retrieved and brought to the mortuary from different locations.

It has been disclosed through various sources that Esther had a romantic involvement with the prime suspect, Kopo, and was part of the group accompanying him on a trip to Mombasa to purchase a vehicle. However, their plans took a tragic turn when they encountered individuals offering them a supposedly better deal on a vehicle, leading them to a showroom in Mombasa, where they were last seen alive.

The circumstances surrounding the discovery of their bodies in Nairobi County and the identity of those who retrieved them remain murky. Initial reports suggest their bodies were found near a river in Lari, Kiambu County, before being recovered by the authorities and taken to the mortuary.

Investigators have linked Kopo to the shooting incident, alleging that he inflicted serious injuries on Adan by firing the gun. Kibe was laid to rest in accordance with Muslim customs on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

It has also emerged that Kopo, Kibe, and Esther were childhood friends who grew up in different neighborhoods in Nairobi. Furthermore, online records indicate Esther’s involvement in theft, as she was exposed for stealing a phone and money from a man in an Airbnb last year.

Three more individuals allegedly involved in the robbery—Julius Osoro, Charity Njeri Kimani, and John Michael Muturi—were brought to court by the police. They were arrested at the Greenpark estate in Athi River, Machakos County, and will remain in custody for ten days as investigations continue.

Sergeant Frederick Obiero from the Starehe DCI office has applied for their detention in line with the Penal Code, aiming to ascertain whether the gun found in their possession was used in the ambush reported at the Eastleigh North Police Station. The firearm will undergo analysis by ballistics experts at the DCI’s headquarters as part of the ongoing investigation.
