A love-struck man is battling charges of threatening to kill a woman who turned down his overtures after she pocketed his Sh10,000 for rent and an additional Sh1000.
50-year old Joel Mecha is accused of uttering the words ‘nitakutoa hio kichwa au mtoto wako apotee’ (I will remove your head or ensure your child gets lost) to the complainant.
The words were interpreted as death threats.
But he denied the charges at the Kibera law courts while insisting the matter arises from a debt the woman owes him.
In other news, A Kisumu resident was on Tuesday, August 24 arraigned for strangling her neighbor with bra and assaulting her.
The lady identified as Jackline Anyango who appeared before Magistrate Peter Gesora was charged with three counts of assault.
It is reported that on June 25, 2021, Vivian Adhiambo was slapped on the neck and strangled by Jackline using a bra.
On the same day, she is accused of malicious injury to property contrary to section 339(1) of the penal code.
She is said to have destroyed a radio and a chair and stealing a phone valued at Ksh 15,500 all properties of Vivian Odhiambo.
She however pleaded not guilty and the magistrate releases her on a bond of Ksh 30,000.
