A middle-aged woman is in critical condition at Kenyatta National Hospital after suffering severe burns in an appalling act of domestic violence by her husband or partner.
According to reports, the woman’s neighbors rushed to her aid and transported her to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital early on Wednesday morning following a violent confrontation at her home in Maragua Ridge, Murang’a County.
Family members revealed that the incident occurred late Tuesday night when her husband, identified as Okal, arrived home and demanded food. When the woman informed him that there was none available, he allegedly poured kerosene over her and set her on fire.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack and remains at large.
The residents of Maragua Ridge were left both enraged and shocked by the brutal act, with many condemning it as horrific. Local citizens are calling for swift justice and a fair trial for the perpetrator.
The victim sustained severe burns across her body and was urgently transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further medical care. She is currently on life support and remains in critical condition.
The police are actively searching for the suspect and have urged anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward.
