After the Matuu bank heist two officers are currently nursing serious injuries at the Matuu Level 5 Hospital after they tried to stop the robbery.
5 armed Robbers ambushed the bank on Tuesday, July 27 around mid morning.
“Robbery with violence incident report: Ref OB no. 15/27/07/2021 at 1020hrs. It was reported by one Michael Muriithi Gachanja the manager Equity bank Matuu of tel. no. 072######5 that today at around 0910hrs 5 armed robbers entered the bank after injuring and disarming the officers guarding the bank,” the police report read.
“It was established that no. 1####9 pc (w) Dorothy Opili sustained injuries on her hip joint, bruises on her left hand and her AK47 riffle s/no 5526385 with 30 rounds had been robbed,” the police report said in part.
The officer, Patrick Omusebe who was guarding the bank sustained serious injuries on his private parts and his AK47 riffle loaded Wirth 30 rounds of ammunition.
Five customers were also robbed off their money.
“Rosina Syombua was robbed Ksh 51,860, Rhoda Mbithe Hamisi Ksh 3,500, James Mulaka Mutuku Ksh 11,000, Lawrence Ngugi 200,000, Mary Kumama Ksh 4,500 while an unknown amount of money was robbed from one of the bank tellers,” the police report said.
