Sean Andrew Mwaura Kibaki, the grandson of the late President Mwai Kibaki, recently shared his experiences in the field of commercial modeling in a YouTube interview.
During the interview, Andrew recounted a unique incident where he had initially secured a modeling job with an advertising agency, only to have the opportunity abruptly withdrawn at the last minute. Despite successfully navigating auditions and having promising prospects, he received a disheartening call the day before the scheduled shoot.
In a surprising turn of events, the agency informed him that he had been dropped from the project because he was deemed “too cute” for the intended role. Expressing bewilderment at the reasoning behind his dismissal, Andrew struggled to understand how someone could be considered “too cute” for a modeling job. He vividly recalled his reaction, exclaiming, “I am too cute! What does that mean I am too cute?”
The agency clarified that they were seeking a more mature appearance, as Andrew appeared somewhat youthful and childlike. Frustrated and upset, Andrew remembered throwing his phone in frustration. Interestingly, some of his friends eventually secured the modeling gig that he lost due to his perceived cuteness.
Sean Andrew’s experience highlights the unpredictable and sometimes unconventional standards within the modeling industry, where even being “too cute” can hinder one from landing certain roles. He emphasized his struggle to comprehend the reason behind his dismissal, questioning how he could be considered too cute for the job.
Beyond his modeling endeavors, Sean Andrew comes from a powerful political family in Kenya. Despite his family’s political background, he has successfully carved his own path in the world of showbiz, gaining prominence through his active presence on social media.
During the grand opening of Chateau 254 Cellar Gastro Club, owned by Akothee’s daughter Vesha Okello, Sean Andrew spoke to vloggers in late July 2023. He emphasized his decision to steer clear of politics, considering it too dirty for his liking. Sean Andrew expressed his belief that public service can be achieved without entering politics and stated his intention to serve people in his own way privately, as a private citizen.
