‘Those who think Luos we will support another candidate other than Ruto in 2027,ng’ooo. In 2027 we will vote for Ruto instead of Kalonzo’ -Elisha Odhiambo

Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo has sparked massive debate after publicly declaring that the Luo community will support President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election. Speaking passionately during a political gathering, the outspoken legislator dismissed claims that Luos will back opposition leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, insisting that the community has shifted its political direction.

Odhiambo stated that President Ruto has shown more goodwill and inclusivity towards the Luo people than any other president before him, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta. He said it would be unwise for Luos to oppose a leader who has extended development and political recognition to their region.

“Those who think Luos will support another candidate other than Ruto in 2027, ng’ooo! In 2027 we will vote for Ruto instead of Kalonzo because Ruto is the only one who has supported Luos — even Uhuru didn’t support Luos,” Odhiambo declared.

The MP further predicted a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 polls, claiming that Mount Kenya region — which strongly backed Ruto in 2022 — will find itself in the opposition, while Luo Nyanza will align with the government.

“In 2027, Mt Kenya will be the one in opposition. Luo Nyanza is not going to opposition — our president is William Ruto,” Odhiambo affirmed confidently.

His remarks have ignited heated reactions across the political divide. Some leaders from Nyanza praised him for promoting unity and pragmatism, arguing that it’s time the community embraced national politics over regional loyalty. However, critics dismissed his statement as political opportunism, accusing him of abandoning long-held ideals for personal gain.

As the 2027 election race begins to take shape, Odhiambo’s comments underscore the shifting political dynamics in Kenya, where traditional alliances are being challenged and new power equations are slowly emerging.
