Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has sparked laughter and political chatter after commenting on a recent incident involving Siaya Governor James Orengo and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. Speaking humorously, Kaluma suggested that the “stick” Kalonzo gave Orengo during a past event in Bondo was more symbolic than practical.
Kaluma stated:
“That stick Kalonzo gave Governor Orengo in Bondo was ‘kamuti’. Orengo is saying some very strange things since then!”
The remark refers to an incident where Orengo received a ceremonial stick from Kalonzo, an act typically meant to convey authority or blessing in political circles. Kaluma’s quip implies that the gesture may have had an unexpected influence on Orengo’s recent statements or behavior.
Social media users quickly reacted to Kaluma’s comment, with some praising his wit while others saw it as playful political banter. Analysts note that such light-hearted exchanges often serve to humanize politicians while keeping the public engaged in ongoing political narratives.
The comment underscores the colorful nature of Kenyan politics, where humor and symbolism often intersect with serious political messaging.
