Two girls from Murang’a were reported missing a week ago after they failed to return home from a church service.
The 17-year-old girls identified as Mercy Waithera and Clarin Njeri were reported missing and their families attempts to trace them bore no fruits.
It is reported that they disappeared from home after a disagreement with their parents and fled after a church service at St Mark’s Kaboi church where they were members of the youth fellowship.
After a tireless operation to trace the girls, they were found in Thika,Kiganjo area where they had been hosted by a friend.
The girl’s were treated to a mini ceremony on their return home where they disclosed that they had also fled following their family’s immense poverty.
Clarin in an interview with our reporter said that the decision to run from home was a bad calculation and adviced teenagers to address their issues with a family member or a trusted grown-up.
The two girls are students at Mukurwe Wa Nyagathanga Secondary School in Gaturi Ward, Kiharu constituency and will be continuing with their studies after a session with a mental health specialist.
